The nobility of leather
The skin's journey
Selection
Each hide is inspected by hand in Italy's most demanding tanneries. Only flawless, evenly grained hides are selected.
Tanning
A slow, vegetable tanning process that respects the natural fibers gives the leather its suppleness and strength. A process that requires several weeks of patience.
Dye
Pigments are deeply applied, layer after layer, to achieve a uniform hue that won't fade over time. Each color is an expertise in itself.
Control
Before entering our workshop, each skin undergoes a final examination: feel, grain, thickness, hold. Excellence tolerates no compromise.
Patina is memory
leather.
Our leathers
Full bloom
The finest leather, taken from the surface of the hide. Its natural grain, subtle imperfections and unique patina make it a living material that becomes more beautiful with age.
Vachette
Selected for its robustness and fine grain, cowhide brings structure and strength to our creations. A material that is both resistant and elegant.
Lining
The inside of an ALTU bag is treated with the same care as the outside. Our cotton twill lining is soft to the touch and resistant to daily wear and tear.
The gesture that extends
Noble leather has to be earned. These simple gestures will preserve the beauty of your bag for years to come.
Clean
A soft, dry cloth after each use is all that's needed to preserve the shine of the leather.
Feeding
A nourishing cream applied once a month keeps the leather supple and hydrated.
Protect
Store your bag in its cover, away from direct light and moisture.
